You can now see the version and the date of the last update in the footer to Fridge to Food.  With version alpha 0.8 come a number of improvements and new features, including:

• Voting on Images
  • 1 image up vote gives the poster of the image 2 reputation
  • 1 image down vote takes 2 reputation from the poster of the image
  • images in the gallery are ordered by number of votes
  • the poster of the image is now displayed underneath the image

The top voted image doesn’t yet display in recipe browsing or viewing, but that improvement will come soon.  In the mean time, enjoy the images!

Over the course of last week I made a few small updates that included minor bug fixes.  Today saw the last of them.

Among the fixed bugs:

• Slashes will not longer be added before quotes when adding recipes, editing recipes or editing your profile.
• When adding or editing a recipe you can now delete extra ingredient and instruction fields that you’d added with the “+ add another ingredient” or “+ add another instruction” link.
• A number of small style enhancements were made.  Particularly, when user names and recipe titles are too long, they no longer overflow their box in the browse display.

Fridge to Food alpha 0.75 went online late Monday night (Thai time).  After months of slogging, followed by a month and a half of ignoring it due to massive life events, the new Fridge to Food alpha is about three quarters feature complete.  And solid enough to be experienced by alpha testers.

Among the things that are included in this version are:

• A new look and feel
• Recipe browsing including
  • Ordering by votes, newest, oldest or relevance (when searching)
  • paging with 12 recipes per page
  • recipe display in browse that shows their image prominently
• Adding recipes
• Editing recipes
• Image galleries for each recipe
  • image upload to those galleries
• Profile page
  • profile photo
  • editing profile page
  • posted recipes with browsing on profile page
• Recipe ingredient search
• Voting on recipes

Things that haven’t yet made their way into the alpha:

• tagging
  • browse by tags
  • filter search and recipe browse using tags
  • viewing recipes for tag
  • retagging a recipe
• voting on images
• advanced search
• ingredient and tag suggestions

Once all those features are included we’ll spend some time testing in feature complete alpha and then go to open beta with open registration.

Fridge to Food is steadily marching forward.  We’re almost there, just little bit more to do.
